Rev Dr William "Bill" Cato

Our preacher for Campmeeting 2023

I grew up dividing my time between Searcy with my father and Kensett with my mother. I made my initial public profession of faith at eight years old and was subsequently baptized at Center Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Searcy. After high school, I attended college at Henderson State University in Arkadelphia. While there I met Dr. Bill Gentry (a philosophy professor and ordained United Methodist elder) and his wife Betty. Through their influence and expressions of faith, I was attracted to the United Methodist Church.

I have experience in both traditional and contemporary worship settings and appreciate both styles. Over the last few years I have become involved in the Appalachian Trail Outreach Ministry in cooperation with United Methodist churches in Virginia. ATOM is a unique and fun opportunity to minister to the spiritual, emotional, and material needs of thru-hikers from across the country and around the world on the Appalachian Trail. I am deeply Sacramental. I am further committed to small group discipleship, lay leadership development, the Means of Grace, and personal evangelism as keys to experiencing spiritual revitalization in our churches. I am also passionate about racial and economic justice.
